BlockBeats News, January 1st, after several months of delay, the U.S. Senate Banking Committee is expected to advance deliberations on a digital asset market regulation bill in the second week of January this year.

According to reports and sources familiar with the matter, the Banking Committee may hold a markup session on the "Responsible Financial Innovation Act" in the second week of January. This move signifies a milestone breakthrough in the slow progress of this legislation due to concerns from Democratic lawmakers about decentralized finance and the longest government shutdown in federal history.

Cody Carbone, CEO of the digital asset advocacy organization The Digital Chamber, stated that the Senate will at least hold a markup session on pending market structure legislation in the second week of January. In addition, the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee is also reviewing its version of the market structure bill, which may then be brought to a full Senate vote.

The market structure bill, previously known as the "Clarity in Digital Assets Markets Act," passed the House of Representatives in July and is expected to grant the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) more authority to regulate digital assets. The early draft of the Senate bill indicates that the CFTC and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will engage in more collaboration on cryptocurrency regulation.
